Ninjas versus Pirates: MCR Guest Night…Pure Shenanigans

Ok, since last term’s brilliant Guest Night experience (remember…Bond Night?) I know everyone has been anxiously awaiting the Lent Term redux.  It was Saturday night…and it was pure craziness.  The theme…Ninjas versus Pirates…for those of you who have ever wondered which would reign supreme…and who hasn’t really?  You can find all the photos in the album.

-  First off, the world-famous Churchill chocolate fountain was inexplicably missing in action.  This omission nearly ruined the entire evening…

-  At dinner, the winners of the costume contest were announced.  A generic ninja for the guys and the ninja turtles for the girls.  Just to be clear, the ninja turtle costumes were pretty weak.  They had like pillows on their backs as “shells.”  Not to mention that Donatello (I think) had really let himself go.  Just how upset were Burcu and Sam that they ditched their full-body cardboard ninja turtle shells at the last minute??  Pretty darn upset, I would imagine…they will no doubt be kicking themselves for years to come.

You can sense how ticked they are about the costume contest results

-  Dinner was pretty standard fare, although they did mix it up a bit for the vegetarians in the house…stuffed peppers.  Eat your hearts out carnivores!

-  Of course, after dinner was when things really got percolating.   The cover band was covering (featuring a truly inspired Kings of Leon/The Killers mash-up…brilliant), the booze was flowing, the scantily-clad pirate wenches were dancing (and also the normal people...see below), the karaokers were karaoke-ing, and the casino was casinoing.  It doesn’t get much better.

-  And then…the Backstreet Boys re-united.  Pure magic!

-  I could probably write some more…but is it really worth it after that.  I think not…and you know what, keeping the blog posts short isn’t so bad every now and then. And this time I’ve decided…I want it that way.
