Taking over England (or wherever): The Grantchester Edition

So yes, I've decided to finally bring back (by popular demand) the Taking over England series with a new installment...Grantchester.  In other words, we finally poked our heads out of the whole that is our flat and didn't see our shadows.  Spring has definitely arrived...

-  A little background on Grantchester.  It's one of the must-do locations in the Cambridge area.  And apparently you must visit a place called The Orchard for tea.  Bertrand Russell's been there, Wittgenstein, John Maynard Keynes, Stephen Hawking, Watson and Crick, A.A. Milne (Winnie the Pooh), Hugh Laurie (House), Prince Charles (Diana), Sylvia Plath (The Bell Jar)...to name just a few. I can kind of see why.  It is a lovely little town out in the countryside (and only about two miles from Cambridge).  If I had it to do over, I would probably skip the Orchard...they have some tremendous mark-ups on tea and scones.

 -  Anyway, we rode our bikes over last Sunday afternoon.  Being a weekend with beautiful, warm weather, the pathway was quite crowded. That didn't bother us though, Michelle has become quite adept at throwing the subtle elbow when old women pedestrians get in our way.  On the way, we passed by fields of picnickers...

-  One thing of note about Grantchester and The Orchard.  Judging by the size and composition of the crowd...it definitely deserves a spot on the Stuff White People Like list...without a doubt.

-  That's about it for Grantchester.  Oh yeah, there was a cute church...what would a Taking over England installment be without a cute church?

-  Next up?  Anniversary trip to Paris this weekend.  Bring it!
